Back and Spinal Pain

Man holding his lower spine. Severe lower back pain or sciatica pain that makes working difficult and requires immediate treatment.

The human spine is a unique structure, ensuring an upright posture and the flexibility necessary for movement. The spine consists of 33-34 vertebrae: 7 cervical, 12 thoracic, 5 lumbar, 5 fused to form the sacrum, and 3-5 fused to form the coccyx (tailbone).

Viewed from the side, the spine has an “S” shape and, above all, serves to protect the spinal cord.

Back and spinal pain are among the most common ailments of our civilisation and constitute a serious problem, limiting the ability to perform physical exertion, move freely, conduct daily activities, and causing both physical and mental distress. Almost 100% of modern society experiences lesser or greater pain in the spine or back muscles. At our clinic, we observe this trend every day.

Health problems begin when there is a restriction of mobility in any segment of the spine. If in the cervical (neck) section, issues arise with tilting the head forward or backward; headaches, dizziness, tinnitus, shoulder pain, and numbness in the arms may occur. When movement is restricted in the thoracic spine, chest pain occurs, sometimes mistaken for heart pain (leading many to seek help from a cardiologist) or pain in other internal organs, e.g., the stomach. Restricted mobility of the lumbar spine hinders bending, walking, sitting, and standing. Often, pain from this section radiates to the legs or the internal organs of the lower abdomen.

These listed problems have their root cause in the impingement of peripheral nerves at their exit from the spinal cord, near the spine, which requires our professional intervention.

One does not die from back pain, but as our patients rightly point out: what kind of life is it if pain prevents you from living normally? We offer you, at our Remedial Massage and Rehabilitation Clinic, professional and effective help in eliminating spinal and back muscle pain.
